Not really about anime…

Life, life, life.

This past week I feel like my face looked something like this…

I have some news and this is more of personal life than anime, I just wanted to mention that this weekend (starting today I get to leave after school lol) and next weekend (starting next Thursday) I will be going to pitch my book.

So yeah, even thought my first pitch isn’t until Friday morning, I can already feel the butterflies forming in my stomach.

To say I’m distracted it a bit of an understatement. I just wanted to put a quick note here to say I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth and I hope I don’t fall too far behind in reading your awesome posts. However, I will have to delay my Yona posts a bit since it didn’t get finished in time :/.

I think my mind was too busy thinking about the literary agents reactions…

Why did you pitch this nonsense to me?

I tend to be slightly super dramatic in my head…

So four pitches in two weeks. Whew, just typing that made me start shaking…

Well, in this life you never know what will happen. I’m prepared to the best of my abilities and in the end I hope I learn from it.

I will hopefully get a chance next week to catch up a bit more, but you know I’ll still be watching anime too haha!

So Happy Watching and I hope you find something good this week!

    1. WordPress doesn’t want us to be together and also somehow this comment ended up in spam? What the hey wordpress!!! Thank you very much!
My book is an urban fantasy with poltergeists, cannibal goblins, and a pervy non-ghost :D.
Maybe one day I’ll get to send you an ARC!

  2. OMG OMG this is amazing NEWS! Keeps us posted – we’ll celebrate together and curse publishers for their bad tastes and just…it’s great! I realize that this is the type of business where you have to be somewhat endured to rejection as you get 30 nos for every yes but just going out there and trying is so amazing!

      1. LOL. What’s amazed me is how nice some rejections are though. I had one today for an antholgoy that was really nice. It makes it all the more worthwhile when the acceptance comes though πŸ™‚

      2. Very true. This last conference I got two more to add to the list. They were the “What you have is great, but I’m not looking for something like this at the moment.” Those ones are tough to understand.

      3. They can be. I had a similar one from a publisher where they basically said they really liked what I sent, but that it felt a little too YA for them and they jsut weren’t taking on any more YA at the time. It sucked, but what can you do?

      4. Exactly, agents will say that you have to hit them at the exact right time… It is like trying to shoot a target in the dark, while it is windy, and you’re falling into the water.

      5. Yeah. I think the best advice I was ever given was that you have to realise that a rejection isn’t necessarily a comment on quality, but rather timing. Agents have to play the market and predict the next coming trends and what can still gain ground.

That all being said, I’m still not represented. Working with small presses has been a joy though.

      6. Exactly, it still can suck, but honestly you’ve got to just keep going and networking. There was a author who took 20 years… Now with self publishing people don’t always have to wait though, but then the cost and business is sometimes overwhelming.

  3. Ganbatte! Faito da yo! etc.

Best of luck! Sounds terrifying. But then I find phoning up to update Direct Debit details terrifying, so I may not be the best judge of it.

Hope it all goes well — everyone here will clearly be thinking of you πŸ™‚
